2. Ocean Park Beach

3. Isla Verde Beach

Isla Verde can be divided into three different beaches –  El Alambique, Pine Grove, and Balneario de Carolina. While El Alambique has a touristy vibe, the Balneario de Carolina has a more serene ambiance. Pine Grove is the best spot to learn surfing and enjoy water sports.

4. Escambrón Beach

Escambrón Beach is a small crescent of golden sands lined with palm trees, located near Old San Juan. Most people in the San Juan community consider this beach as the most picturesque beach within the city limits.

Thanks to the protection of a rocky reef, the calm waters make swimming possible. The reef also makes it a great destination for snorkeling, and you might even find sea turtles gliding in the water.

5. Playita del Condado

Playita del Condado is a small jewel that often gets overshadowed by the other beaches in the San Juan area. This public beach is in the western section of Condado. The water is shallow and clear and the trees along the beach offer plenty of shade. Also, a coral reef formation keeps the waves small.

Not many visitors are aware of Playa Peña as it is one of the most secluded beaches in the San Juan metropolitan area. It is also one of the least crowded beaches in San Juan and far from the sounds of the city.

If you do not want to engage in swimming or snorkeling and prefer to enjoy some beach time, this is the right spot for you. We suggest visiting this beach during the low tide as the west end of the beach may not be accessible during high tide.
